Occupational therapists help clients not only to improve their basic motor functions and reasoning abilities, but also to compensate for permanent loss of function. Their goal is to help clients have independent, productive, and satisfying lives.

On October 22, 2006 reported that Occupational Therapy can improve independence in stroke survivors because it can reduce the risk of deterioration after stroke. Patients who participated in after-stroke rehabilitation therapy showed that they were able to perform self-care tasks and were able to maintain these abilities.

According to the University of West England, Bristol, the Global Occupational Therapy Society presented Global Living Film Festival which is intended to raise the profile of occupational therapy by capturing people’s imagination through film.
