Aviation science is about the process of flying aircraft. Someone in the aviation science field will be working a lot with technology and analyzing how the atmosphere effects what happens with various aircrafts. The reason for that is planes cannot get off the ground if everything is not as it should be. An example is how planes are affected by gas emissions in the atmosphere.  Having a background in aviation science also makes a person better prepared to fly planes. In the aviation science field, there is a lot of investigating and research. Something that has been investigated is the suppression of sonic booms. The project is called Quiet Spike and is being investigated by Gulfstream Aerospace and NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center. The project is an attempt to find out if a new spike will create less sound upon a flight’s grounding than the previous shockwaves have.
